I wonder what massive advantage might one get from a 3 minute delay. I'm not that great at StarCraft myself, but I have somewhat of a good understanding of it. So many new players can benefit from having coaches and another functionality for SC2ers to use if they wish(I time to time love spectating friends in Dota 2 when I'm bored). It'd be nice though to have a Blizzard developer shine some light on this. One reason though why they might not be able to do this is so far I see, the stable gameplay between two players depends on their connections it seems? It feels as if like StarCraft 2 doesn't have like somewhat dedicated servers just like Dota 2 does which may be the big reason why.
It'd be a bit hard but they could still start out with the general idea. At least coaching for unranked play would be fair, and only being able to see exactly what your student sees and being able to ping buildings maybe and able to tell what units to build of some sort.
Overall, in a game such as StarCraft 2, the capabilities to spectate and coach needs to be accessible by now. In Hearthstone, you have real-time spectating while only being able to see what cards your friend has while also being a way to coach them. Coaching is not allowed for ranked matchmaking though.
The coach is only able to see whatever the player's side sees(so the player and the allies vision is the coach's vision) while also having helpful abilities to draw on the map, ping the map, alt+click abilities, items, and etc. When a Dota 2 custom game lobby is made, there is setting to set the delay to 10seconds or 2 minutes, these are generally used for tournaments and I believe set to 10 seconds.Īs for coaching, a Dota 2 party may have up to 6 players, this is due to the 6th being allowed to coach, although you can coach without needing 4 other players.
